Patna: The Bihar Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has urged builders to complete housing projects within stipulated timelines and place the interests of homebuyers at the forefront of project planning, as it reviewed the progress of ongoing developments across the state.

Addressing a sensitisation workshop in Patna on Friday, RERA Chairman Vivek Kumar Singh said the authority had introduced several reforms to improve the ease of doing business after incorporating suggestions from the real estate industry.

Among the changes, the number of documents required for project registration has been reduced and the registration process simplified, he said.

Singh also advised developers to thoroughly verify land ownership records and the legal status of project sites before launching new developments to avoid future disputes and delays.

Focus On Expiring Registrations

The workshop was organised for builders whose RERA registrations are due to expire between August and December 2026. Officials briefed developers on the current status of their projects and explained the procedures for seeking extensions where deadlines cannot be met, while ensuring that the interests of flat buyers remain protected.

According to a review presented by the authority, construction on 20 projects is nearing completion. Another 11 projects could still be completed on time if construction activity is accelerated.

However, RERA found progress on 17 projects to be unsatisfactory, indicating that their promoters may have to apply for extensions to their registration period.

Modern Construction Technologies Discussed

The workshop also featured a presentation by Vishwajeet Chaubey, a senior official from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), who outlined modern construction technologies that can reduce construction time while improving quality in multi-storey buildings.

RERA also shared details of its proposed builder ranking system and invited feedback from developers. The workshop was attended by several representatives from the real estate sector, including Animesh Pandey, Rajesh Thadani and CREDAI Joint Secretary Manish Kumar.
