Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has arrested three people in connection with the alleged question paper leak in the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) Havildar Instructor recruitment examination for the Home Guard Service Cadre.
The accused have been remanded to judicial custody in connection with EOU Police Station Case No. 16/2026. The agency said the arrests followed an investigation into allegations of unfair means during the recruitment examination.
Three Accused Sent to Judicial Custody
The arrested individuals have been identified as Raj Samdarshi alias Raja (25), a resident of Karsa under Bikram police station in Patna district; Abhishek Kumar (21), a resident of Saidpur Rajauli under Sadar police station in Vaishali district; and biometric supervisor Nitesh Kumar (28).
According to the EOU, all three were produced before a court on July 31 and were subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
Probe Links Accused to Examination Irregularities
The investigation stems from Hajipur Town Police Station Case No. 368/2026. The EOU said it received information that unfair means were likely to be used in the Havildar Instructor recruitment examination held on July 29.
Officials said Raj Samdarshi was detained near an examination centre in Hajipur. During questioning, he allegedly admitted that irregularities had taken place during the examination and named Abhishek Kumar as being involved.
The EOU further claimed that Raj Samdarshi disclosed the use of unfair means in the Assistant Election Data Officer (AEDO) examination conducted in April 2026.
Digital Evidence Recovered from Mobile Phones
According to investigators, the probe revealed that answers to examination questions were allegedly transmitted to Raj Samdarshi through biometric supervisor Nitesh Kumar.
During the investigation, officials recovered several examination-related documents, including admit cards and answer sheets, from the mobile phone galleries of Raj Samdarshi and Abhishek Kumar.
The EOU said one answer sheet recovered during the investigation was found to have been sent at 12:21 pm on the day of the examination.
Further Investigation Continues
The EOU has registered a case against the three accused and other named individuals under the provisions of the Bihar Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
The agency said its investigation is continuing to identify members of the alleged paper leak network and those who may have gained financially from the operation. Officials added that other aspects of the case remain under detailed investigation.
