Patna: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on August 1 directed the Bihar Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) to make its functioning more transparent, technology-driven and accountable, while ensuring that the interests of homebuyers remain the highest priority.

Reviewing the functioning of RERA at the Sankalp auditorium at the Public Servants’ Residence in Patna, the chief minister said the authority must strike a balance between protecting homebuyers’ rights and promoting ease of doing business in the real estate sector.

Focus On Homebuyers’ Rights

The chief minister said the primary objective of RERA is to safeguard the interests and rights of homebuyers while creating a business-friendly regulatory environment.

He directed the authority to ensure transparent, sensitive and time-bound disposal of complaints and cases related to homebuyers. According to the chief minister, a transparent and accountable regulatory framework would strengthen public confidence and encourage investment in the real estate sector.

Push For Simpler And Digital Processes

Samrat Choudhary instructed officials to simplify procedures for promoters and developers, reduce unnecessary delays in project-related approvals and make regulatory processes more transparent and convenient.

He also directed RERA to integrate its operations with the Bihar government’s dashboard and other digital platforms. The move is aimed at enabling real-time monitoring of pending cases, case disposal and other key activities.

Presentation On RERA Functioning

During the review meeting, RERA Chairman Vivek Kumar Singh presented an overview of the authority’s institutional framework and operational systems. He said RERA’s procedures had been designed to be simple and transparent and described its institutional framework as among the best in the country.

Senior Officials Attend Review Meeting

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, RERA Chairman Vivek Kumar Singh, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh, Urban Development and Housing Department Principal Secretary Vinay Kumar, and Secretaries to the Chief Minister Lokesh Kumar Singh and Sanjay Kumar Singh, along with other senior RERA officials.
