Patna: Patna University has ordered an investigation after the question paper for its LLB entrance examination was allegedly leaked from Patna College on Saturday, with officials stating that the examination will not be cancelled as there was no evidence that answers reached candidates inside the examination hall.
According to the university, the question paper was circulated online at 12.02 pm, while the examination was being conducted from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm.
Student Allegedly Used Mobile Phone
University officials said a student allegedly managed to carry a mobile phone into the examination hall despite security checks and photographed the question paper before sharing it online.
According to the university, the examination hall’s mobile jammer was inactive at the time of the alleged leak. The jammer was activated immediately after officials were informed of the incident.
Officials also said the mobile phone allegedly used to circulate the question paper had been seized, although the student suspected of leaking it reportedly left the examination centre.
Jammer Activated After Leak
Prof. B.K. Lal, Controller of Examinations at Patna University, confirmed that the paper was circulated online during the examination.
He said the university acted promptly after receiving information about the incident by activating the jammer. According to him, although the question paper was leaked, there was no evidence that answer keys or solutions reached candidates inside the examination hall.
Lal added that checks of other students’ mobile phones did not reveal copies of the leaked paper.
CCTV Footage Under Review
The university has begun examining CCTV footage to identify the student allegedly responsible for the leak.
Lal said the examination would not be cancelled, as the university believes the integrity of the examination was not compromised to the extent that would warrant re-conducting the test.
Other Centres Unaffected
The LLB entrance examination was also conducted at BN College and Magadh Mahila College.
Officials said the examination proceeded without incident at both centres. Dr Rajkishore Prasad, Principal of BN College, confirmed that the examination was conducted smoothly at his institution.
Police personnel had been deployed outside all examination centres, and candidates were frisked before entering. The university is now investigating how a mobile phone was brought into the examination hall despite these security arrangements.
