Patna: Bihar is set to launch a major recruitment drive for Assistant Professors, with the Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC) announcing that the process for appointing regular faculty in the state’s universities and degree colleges will begin in September.
The recruitment aims to address the long-standing shortage of teachers in higher education institutions and strengthen academic standards across the state.
Over 2,500 Posts In Degree Colleges
BSUSC Chairperson Girish Kumar Chaudhary said the Commission will recruit 2,532 regular Assistant Professors for 211 government degree colleges across Bihar.
According to the Commission, the state government has already finalised the roster of vacant posts, and preparations for issuing the recruitment notification are in the final stages.
Chaudhary said recruitment for six subjects in which vacancies remained unfilled during earlier selection processes will also be conducted afresh to ensure all sanctioned posts are filled.
Around 7,000 More Posts In Universities
The Commission is also preparing to recruit around 7,000 Assistant Professors for Bihar’s state universities.
Chaudhary said the recruitment process has gathered pace after the drafting of the necessary rules and statutes following directions from the Chancellor, paving the way for regular appointments in universities.
Written Exam Mandatory
The BSUSC said recruitment will be conducted through a written examination, followed by interviews and other stages of selection in accordance with the prescribed rules.
The Commission said the process would be transparent and merit-based, with the objective of selecting qualified teachers for higher education institutions across the state.
Contractual Faculty To Join From August 10
Meanwhile, the recruitment of contractual Assistant Professors to address the immediate shortage of faculty in degree colleges has entered its final phase.
According to the Commission, selected candidates will begin reporting to their respective colleges from August 10.
Officials said their appointments are expected to ensure that regular classes can be conducted in subjects that have faced prolonged teacher shortages.
