Patna: The Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna has revised its parking charges for the first time in five years, with the new rates coming into effect immediately. The revised tariff includes a significant increase in parking fees for private cars, SUVs and commercial vehicles, while charges for two-wheelers remain unchanged for short-duration parking.
The most notable revision is for private seven-seater cars and SUVs, where the parking fee for the first 30 minutes has doubled from Rs 20 to Rs 40. However, the charge for two-wheelers for the first 30 minutes continues to remain Rs 10.
Changes in Pick-and-Drop Rules
The airport administration has also introduced changes to the pick-and-drop system. Vehicles entering the airport premises must now complete entry and exit within a maximum of nine minutes.
Additionally, drivers of app-based cab services such as Ola and Uber will have to pay Rs 55 to access the arrival or departure areas. All revised charges are inclusive of GST, according to the airport authorities.
Commercial Vehicles Face Sharp Hike
Under the revised tariff, parking charges for vehicles with a seating capacity of more than seven passengers, including auto-rickshaws and larger SUVs, have increased sharply. The fee for the first 30 minutes has been raised from Rs 20 to Rs 80.
The steepest hike applies to coaches, buses and trucks, where the parking charge for the first 30 minutes has increased from Rs 30 to Rs 200.
Revised Charges for Longer Parking
For parking between 30 minutes and two hours, the fee for two-wheelers remains unchanged at Rs 15.
The parking fee for private seven-seater cars and SUVs has been increased from Rs 55 to Rs 65, while vehicles with a seating capacity of more than seven will be charged Rs 80. Coaches, buses and trucks will now pay Rs 300 for parking between 30 minutes and two hours.
Aligned With Category-B Airport Norms
Airport officials said Patna Airport falls under the Category-B classification of airports. The revised parking charges have been brought in line with the tariff structure applicable at other Category-B airports across the country.
