Patna: The Bihar government on Thursday signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth approximately Rs 51,600 crore with several industrial groups at a ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s residence in Patna. According to the government, the proposed investments are expected to strengthen sectors including steel, clean energy, textiles and pharmaceuticals while creating employment opportunities across the state.

The agreements were signed between the Industries Department and participating companies in the presence of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. The government said the initiative forms part of its broader strategy to attract private investment and accelerate industrial development in Bihar.

Rs 51,600 Crore Investment Commitments Across Key Sectors

According to the Industries Department, the proposed investments include:

  • Shyam Steel Manufacturing Limited – Rs 5,000 crore in the steel sector.
  • Shakambhari Ispat & Power Limited – Rs 5,000 crore in the steel sector.
  • Nakshit Iron & Steel Private Limited – Rs 6,836 crore in the steel sector.
  • Shri Langta Baba Metals & Power Limited – Rs 5,500 crore in the steel sector.
  • Ankur Steel Private Limited – Rs 6,000 crore in the steel sector.
  • Shri Samriddhi Steel Private Limited – Rs 290 crore in the steel sector.
  • Global Renewable Advanced Clean Energy (GRACE) – Rs 22,500 crore in the nuclear energy sector.
  • Creative Group – Rs 250 crore in the textile sector.
  • Bharat Science and Innovation Pvt. Ltd. – Rs 200 crore.
  • Anubhav Apparels Pvt. Ltd. – Rs 50 crore in the textile sector

Government Plans to Develop Bihar as a Steel Hub

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the government aims to develop Bihar into a major steel manufacturing hub.

According to the Chief Minister, increased investment in steel and metal-based industries is expected to accelerate industrial activity while generating both direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Textiles, Energy and Pharmaceuticals Identified as Priority Sectors

The Chief Minister said the textile sector would receive special policy support because of its labour-intensive nature and its potential to generate large-scale employment.

He also said the government intends to encourage investment in clean energy, including nuclear energy, to strengthen Bihar’s long-term energy infrastructure.

The food processing and pharmaceutical sectors have also been identified as priority areas. According to the government, expanding food processing industries could improve market access for farmers while supporting rural economic activity.

Focus on Bihar Business Connect 2026

Before the signing ceremony, the Chief Minister reviewed preparations for Bihar Business Connect 2026, an investment summit aimed at attracting domestic and international investors.

According to the government, the initiative will promote Bihar’s industrial potential under the theme “Build and Believe in Bihar.” The Chief Minister said the state’s large consumer market, young workforce and improving infrastructure provide opportunities for industrial expansion.

He also called for greater participation from the Bihari diaspora in supporting investment and industrial development in the state.

Government Directs Faster Implementation of Projects

The Chief Minister instructed departments associated with industrial development to ensure that the signed MoUs are converted into operational projects without unnecessary delays.

He also directed officials to simplify the industrial approval process and provide the required support to investors so that projects can move from proposal to implementation more quickly.

According to the government, the objective is to promote investment in steel, textiles, clean and nuclear energy, food processing and pharmaceuticals to generate employment and strengthen Bihar’s industrial base.
