Patna: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has directed officials to complete the Patna Metro Rail Project by 2028 and construct two foot overbridges on Nehru Path to improve pedestrian movement around key locations.
During an inspection on October 11, the chief minister reviewed ongoing construction near Income Tax Golambar, High Court Intersection and Hanuman Mandir. He instructed officials to maintain construction quality and safety standards and complete the work within the stipulated timeframe.
Two Foot Overbridges Planned
The chief minister directed officials to construct foot overbridges near J.D. Women’s College and in the High Court Intersection–Bihar Museum area.
The proposed structures are intended to facilitate pedestrian movement along Nehru Path, where metro construction is under way.
Focus On Traffic Management And Public Safety
Choudhary emphasised the need to coordinate construction activities to minimise inconvenience to commuters and other road users.
He directed officials to ensure effective traffic management, maintain ease of movement and prioritise public safety around construction sites. He also called for regular monitoring of the project and better coordination among the departments and agencies involved.
The chief minister said the pace of construction should not come at the expense of quality, safety or public amenities.
The Patna Metro Rail Project is a major urban transport initiative intended to improve connectivity in the state capital.
Senior Officials Attend Inspection
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Cooperation Minister Ramkripal Yadav and Science, Technology and Technical Education Minister Sheila Kumari were among those present during the inspection.
Senior officials attending the review included Vinay Kumar, principal secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department and the Finance Department; Pankaj Kumar Pal, secretary of the Road Construction Department; and Lokesh Kumar Singh, secretary to the chief minister.
Also present were Sandeep Kumar R. Pudukalkatti, managing director of the Patna Metro Rail Project; Building Construction Department secretary Pranav Kumar; Urban Development and Housing Department secretary Animesh Kumar Parashar; Patna district magistrate Kundan Kumar; and senior superintendent of police Kartikeya K. Sharma.
