Patna: Air connectivity from Bihar’s capital is set to improve with the launch of a direct flight between Patna and Bhopal from August 10, as Alliance Air begins operations in the state’s aviation market.
Airport officials have also proposed a direct Patna–Jaipur flight to the airline’s headquarters in Delhi, with the service expected to be introduced during the winter schedule, subject to approval.
Alliance Air To Operate Three Weekly Flights
The new 70-seater aircraft will operate between Patna and Bhopal three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays.
According to the published schedule, Flight 91-733 will arrive in Patna from Kolkata at 1:15 pm, depart for Bhopal at 1:45 pm, and reach the Madhya Pradesh capital at 4:15 pm.
The return service, Flight 91-734, will operate on Sundays, departing Bhopal at 5:05 pm and arriving in Patna at 7:35 pm. It will then continue onward to Kolkata, departing Patna at 8:00 pm and landing at 9:00 pm.
With the addition of the new service, the number of flight pairs operating from Patna Airport will increase to 39.
Ticket Bookings Open
Alliance Air has opened bookings for the new route.
The introductory one-way fare has been fixed at Rs 4,622 from Patna to Bhopal, while passengers travelling from Bhopal to Patna will pay a starting fare of Rs 4,483.
Jaipur Connection Under Consideration
Airport authorities have also submitted a proposal seeking the introduction of a Jaipur–Patna–Jaipur service.
According to sources, there is a strong possibility that the route will be included in the airline’s winter flight schedule, further expanding direct connectivity from Bihar.
Expected To Benefit Students, Business And Tourism
Officials said the new route is expected to benefit a wide range of travellers.
Students from Bihar pursuing higher education in Bhopal and nearby cities will have access to a direct air connection, reducing travel time and eliminating the need for connecting flights.
The service is also expected to strengthen business ties between Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, while making it easier for tourists from central India to visit destinations such as Bodh Gaya, Rajgir and Takht Sri Harimandir Sahib, Patna Sahib.
Passengers are also expected to benefit from shorter journey times and a reduced risk of missing connecting flights, a common challenge on the route.
