Patna: A new traffic management plan has been implemented on Bailey Road (Nehru Path) to facilitate the ongoing construction of Patna Metro stations near Zoo Gate No. 1, Vikas Bhawan and Income Tax Golambar.
As part of the revised arrangement, the southern carriageway between Raj Bhavan Mor and Zoo Gate No. 1 has been closed after a 200–300 metre stretch was barricaded for construction work. Traffic in both directions is currently being routed through the northern carriageway.
Diversions Introduced On Bailey Road
Vehicles travelling from Income Tax Golambar towards Saguna Mor are being diverted to the opposite carriageway through a crossover near Raj Bhavan Mor.
Meanwhile, vehicles travelling from Saguna Mor towards Income Tax Golambar are being redirected via Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple, Rajvanshi Nagar and Lalit Bhawan before rejoining Nehru Path.
Commercial vehicles, including auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws, have been permitted to use the Punaichak Road route.
Evening Rush Sees Traffic Build-Up
On the first day of the new traffic arrangement, traffic remained largely smooth during daytime hours. However, congestion increased during the evening rush hour.
Heavy traffic was reported on Rajvanshi Nagar, Officers’ Flats Road and Punaichak Road, while vehicles travelling from Income Tax Golambar towards Saguna Mor experienced slower movement and traffic jams at several locations.

More Diversions Planned
According to the traffic administration, 15 traffic marshals deployed by Patna Metro have been stationed alongside traffic police personnel to help regulate vehicle movement.
Officials said that in the next phase of metro construction, commercial vehicles may also be diverted via Veerchand Patel Path, R-Block, Mandiri Nala Road, Bansghat and the Patna-Digha route.
The route for commercial vehicles travelling from Dumra Chowki towards the airport has also been revised, with their entry onto the Rajabazar flyover now prohibited.
Traffic police said the arrangements would continue to be reviewed and modified as construction progresses and traffic conditions evolve.
