Patna: Jan Suraaj founder and newly elected Bankipur MLA Prashant Kishor on Tuesday said he would work to secure jobs for at least 10,000 youths from his constituency within a year.
Kishor made the announcement while addressing gratitude meetings during a tour of Bankipur. He said residents who have educated children should submit their biodata to his office so that employment opportunities could be arranged.
He said he had been working for the constituency since his election despite questions over his absence from public programmes.
Employment Promise
Kishor said he had contacted people and organisations across the country to explore employment opportunities for residents of Bihar.
He said Bankipur should record the highest number of people securing jobs among Bihar’s assembly constituencies. He also said that once the Jan Suraaj system was established in Bihar, young people would not need to leave the state in search of employment.
Ration Cards And Pensions
Addressing a gathering at Yarpur Rajputana Gopal Sharan Singh Path, Kishor asked residents to give him three months to address problems related to ration cards.
He promised that people would not be asked for bribes to obtain ration cards and said eligible beneficiaries would receive the full entitlement of five kilograms of foodgrain rather than four kilograms.
Kishor also announced that people aged above 60 would receive a monthly pension of Rs 1,100. He asked those who were not receiving the pension to submit applications at his office and said he would seek to resolve the issue within three months.
Education Reform
Kishor said improving government schools would be a priority. He said the schools would be given a year to improve their standards.
If the schools failed to improve, he said, children could be enrolled in private schools after a year, with his office taking responsibility for their fees. He said the proposal was intended to reduce the financial burden on parents.
Meetings Across Bankipur
Earlier on Tuesday, Kishor attended a memorial and tribute meeting at Shaheed Ram Govind Singh Girls’ High School in Dashratha.
He later attended a gratitude meeting at Yarpur Rajputana Gopal Sharan Singh Path, followed by meetings at Hanuman Path in Jakkanpur and Grand Palace Hall near Langartoli Chowk in Ward 40.
