Patna: The Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) and Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU), Darbhanga, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and research collaboration and promote technological innovation.
The agreement was signed on August 12, 2026, with the two institutions agreeing to pursue joint initiatives in research, development, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Under the partnership, IIT Patna and LNMU will explore faculty and student exchange programmes, joint research projects, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), incubation, start-up development and technological innovation.
Focus On Research And Entrepreneurship
The collaboration is intended to create stronger institutional links between the two universities and provide opportunities for researchers, faculty members and students to work together on multidisciplinary projects.
The institutions will also collaborate on entrepreneurship and start-up development, potentially helping translate research and technological ideas into new ventures and applications.
Senior Officials Attend Signing
The MoU-signing ceremony was attended by Prof Sanjay Kumar Choudhary, Vice-Chancellor of LNMU, and Prof T N Singh, Director of IIT Patna.
Other officials present included Dr Anup Keshri, Associate Dean, Research & Development, IIT Patna; Kripa Shankar Singh, Training and Placement Officer, IIT Patna; Dr Mohammad Zia Haider, Director, IQAC; Dr Umakant Paswan, Deputy Registrar; Sanjeev Kumar Singh; and other senior officials and representatives of both institutions.
The agreement is expected to strengthen academic exchange and create a framework for joint research and innovation initiatives between IIT Patna and LNMU in the years ahead.
