Patna: Bihar is preparing a major redevelopment programme for Patna that includes a proposed World Trade Center, new infrastructure and the redevelopment of several government-owned land parcels across the city.
Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary reviewed the proposals on Thursday and directed officials to prepare a time-bound action plan for the planned developments.
The National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC) presented a proposal for the World Trade Center, along with plans for redevelopment of land opposite the Bihar Museum on Nehru Path and sites in Gardanibagh, Bhootnath’s Sector 6 and Boring Canal Road.
Plan To Replace Old Government Buildings
Chaudhary said projects aimed at transforming Patna into a modern, world-class city should be taken up on a priority basis.
He supported the proposal to develop models for construction and redevelopment of government land and directed officials to replace old and dilapidated government buildings with new structures or reconstruct them according to current requirements.
The chief minister also called for an integrated plan to make better use of government land and other public assets across the capital.

3,000 Acres Identified For Township Development
Officials were directed to prepare an action plan for developing and redeveloping about 2,000 acres at Pataliputra Township and another 1,000 acres at other township sites.
Chaudhary also asked officials to identify suitable government land in Gaya, Bhagalpur, Begusarai and Darbhanga, alongside Patna, for integrated development plans.
In Patna, officials have been asked to identify available government land, prepare a master plan and ensure that public assets are used efficiently.
The chief minister also stressed the adoption of modern technology, environmental standards and a “Zero Waste Model” in construction and redevelopment projects.
Rs 4,000 Crore Investment Expected
According to the proposal presented at the meeting, the planned projects in Patna are expected to attract approximately Rs 4,000 crore in investment and generate estimated revenue of around Rs 8,000 crore.
Chaudhary directed officials to identify suitable sites, prepare detailed development plans and ensure that construction and redevelopment work is carried out to a high standard and within specified timelines.
The meeting was attended by Urban Development and Housing and Information Technology Minister Nitish Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit and senior officials from the state government, Patna Municipal Corporation and NBCC.
NBCC chairman KP Mahadeva Swamy and other senior officials of the corporation also participated in the review.
