Patna: Independence Day celebrations in Bihar on August 15 are likely to take place amid unsettled weather, with the Meteorological Department forecasting light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in several parts of the state.
Rain is expected at several locations in north-west Bihar, while thunderstorms accompanied by winds of 30-40 km/h are possible in north-central and south-western districts.
Rain Forecast Across Several Regions
In north-west Bihar, covering West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan and Saran, rain is likely at several places. The region may also experience strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning.
In north-central Bihar, including Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Darbhanga, Samastipur and Madhubani, rain is expected at a few locations. Winds of 30-40 km/h, thunderstorms and lightning are also possible.
The south-western districts of Rohtas, Bhabhua, Bhojpur, Buxar, Arwal and Aurangabad may receive rain at a few places, with strong winds and lightning also forecast.
Scattered Rain In Other Districts
In north-east Bihar, covering Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Madhepura and Saharsa, rain is expected at only one or two locations.
Light rain may also occur at one or two places in south-central Bihar, including Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada, Jehanabad, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura and Begusarai.

Temperatures To Remain Around 32-34°C
Maximum temperatures across most regions are expected to remain between 32°C and 34°C.
In north-west and south-west Bihar, minimum temperatures are likely to remain between 26°C and 28°C. North-central and north-east Bihar may record lower minimum temperatures of 24°C to 26°C.
In south-central Bihar, including Patna, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 26°C to 28°C.
With thunderstorms and lightning possible in several regions, weather conditions could affect outdoor Independence Day programmes in parts of the state.
