Patna: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar will begin a two-day visit to Bihar on Sunday, accompanied by a high-level team, with a programme that includes meetings with election officials, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and students across the state.
The Election Department is making preparations for the visit, which will cover election-related issues as well as initiatives aimed at improving electoral literacy.
District Election Machinery To Be Reviewed
On the first day, Kumar will visit Vaishali, Madhubani and Sitamarhi, where he will interact with the district election machinery of the three districts.
The CEC will also visit sites associated with Bihar’s historical and cultural heritage during his stay.
Kumar will be welcomed at Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna by Bihar Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, Patna District Magistrate Kundan Kumar and other senior officials.
500 BLOs To Meet CEC At Nalanda University
On Monday, Kumar will interact with 500 Booth Level Officers from Bihar at the Sushma Swaraj Auditorium of Nalanda University.
The interaction is part of a series of meetings with BLOs held during the Commission’s visits to different states over the past year.
The discussions will focus on the experiences of BLOs and the practical challenges they face while carrying out election-related work at the grassroots level.
The meeting will also examine ways to make the electoral process more effective, simple and accessible, while allowing BLOs to share their experiences directly with the Election Commission.
Students To Discuss Electoral Literacy
A one-day conference on ‘Election Literacy Club (ELC) 2.0’ and ‘ECINet’ will also be held at Gyan Bhawan near Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
The CEC will interact with students from schools, colleges and universities and discuss electoral literacy and related issues.
Students, teachers, vice-chancellors, principals and heads of institutions from more than 400 educational institutions across Bihar are expected to participate.
Senior Election Commission officials, along with Bihar’s chief secretary, development commissioner and senior officials from various state government departments, will also attend the conference.
Senior Election Commission Officials To Accompany CEC
The delegation accompanying Kumar will include Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Manish Garg, Director General (Media) Ashish Goyal and Director General (IT) Dr Seema Khanna.
The Bihar Election Department is coordinating the visit and associated programmes.
The two-day programme will bring together election officials at the district and grassroots levels as well as students and educators, with the focus on strengthening the electoral process and promoting greater awareness of democratic participation.
