Patna: Traffic restrictions will come into force across parts of central Patna from 7am on Saturday, August 15, as the city hosts the main state-level Independence Day ceremony at Gandhi Maidan.

General traffic movement between Dakbungalow Crossing and Gandhi Maidan will remain suspended until the ceremony concludes. Commuters travelling towards Gandhi Maidan, Dakbungalow or JP Golambar have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes.

Routes To Remain Closed

General vehicle movement between Dakbungalow Crossing and Gandhi Maidan will be completely stopped during the ceremony.

Traffic restrictions will also apply to the following routes:

  • Vehicles will not be allowed from New Dakbungalow Road towards SP Verma Road.
  • All routes between Kotwali T-junction and Police Line on Buddha Marg will be closed to general traffic.
  • Vehicle movement from Chhajjubagh near the SDO residence towards JP Golambar will be restricted.

Alternative Routes For Commuters

Vehicles travelling north from Voltas More will be diverted through Vidyapati Marg and Buddha Marg towards the Police Line T-junction.

General traffic approaching from the direction of the Commissioner’s Office will be diverted towards Marine Drive.

Private vehicles arriving from Patna Junction will be allowed to reach Dakbungalow Crossing via Fraser Road. From there, they will have to turn towards Bhattacharya Chowk and Pirmuhani and proceed towards Nala Road instead of Gandhi Maidan.

Vehicles reaching Exhibition Road will be diverted back towards Bhattacharya Chowk through the cut-point opposite Smart Big Bazaar.

Auto-Rickshaws And Buses To Follow Separate Routes

Auto-rickshaws travelling from Patna Junction towards Gandhi Maidan will be allowed to use New Dakbungalow Road from Dakbungalow Crossing and proceed towards Exhibition Road up to the point opposite Smart Big Bazaar.

From there, they will return towards Patna Junction via Bhattacharya Crossing, Bhattacharya More, CDA Building Roundabout and Goriatoli.

City buses and City Ride buses will operate through Gandhi Crossing, Machhuatoli and Dariyapur T-junction, before taking Nala Road, Pirmuhani, CDA Building Roundabout and Goriatoli to reach Patna Junction.

Auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws coming from Patna City will use Musallahpur Hat to reach Khazanchi Road South on Bari Path.

On their return journey, they will travel from Khazanchi Road South to Khazanchi Road North, then proceed towards Ashok Rajpath and Gaighat.

Commuters have been advised to account for the restrictions while planning journeys through the affected areas during the Independence Day ceremony.
