Senior Lawyer Surendra Tiwari Dies of Heart Attack During Court Session in Buxar

Buxar: Senior lawyer Surendra Tiwari, 66, passed away due to a heart attack while debating a case in the Buxar civil court on Tuesday. Tiwari collapsed during his argument in the ADJ-10 court. Judge Rakesh Kumar immediately performed CPR and rushed him to the hospital in his car, but despite the efforts, Tiwari could not be saved. His son later revealed that his father had always expressed a desire to die while working in court, a wish that tragically came true.

A resident of Babhani village, Tiwari was the nephew of Congress leader Mohan Tiwari and had been practicing law in Buxar for 40 years after graduating from Patna University. His elder brother, Madhusudan Tiwari, who had supported his legal education, shared that Surendra was deeply spiritual and had memorized several sacred texts, including the Vishnu Sahasranama. He was often seen reciting religious verses in his spare time.

Tiwari’s death has cast a shadow over the legal fraternity in Buxar, with a wave of mourning spreading across the court premises. The Bar Council General Secretary, Bindeshwari Prasad Pandey, announced a no-work day in the court on Wednesday as a mark of respect, along with a condolence meeting to honor Tiwari’s legacy.
