Patna: The Patna Division of the Postal Department has introduced additional booking counters and extended operating hours at major post offices to manage the rising volume of Rakhi mail ahead of Raksha Bandhan on August 28.
The arrangements are aimed at reducing waiting times and helping customers book Rakhis without facing long queues.
Additional Counters At Major Post Offices
Manish Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Patna Division, has directed postmasters at major post offices to open additional counters and extend booking hours according to demand.
Additional Rakhi mail booking arrangements have been made at Rajendra Nagar, Kadamkuan, Mahendru, Bankipur, Patna Secretariat, Patliputra, Danapur Cantt, Digha Ghat, Anisabad, LBS Nagar and Phulwarisharif.
Booking hours at these offices have been extended by around one to two hours compared with regular days.
Bankipur To Operate On Sunday
Special arrangements have been made at Bankipur Head Post Office, where two to three additional counters have been opened alongside the regular counters to handle the increased volume.
Rakhi mail bookings will be accepted until 8pm. The Bankipur Head Post Office will also remain open on Sunday for Rakhi mail bookings from 10am to 4pm.
August 22 Set As Booking Cut-Off
The Postal Department has set August 22 as the cut-off date for booking Rakhi mail this year. Customers have been advised to send their Rakhis by the deadline to improve the chances of delivery before Raksha Bandhan on August 28.
Manish Kumar urged customers to book Rakhi mail well in advance to avoid the last-minute rush and ensure smoother postal processing.
