Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has conducted searches at three locations linked to Ajay Kumar Singh, deputy director of the Bihar Open Schooling and Examination Board, in a disproportionate-assets case.
The searches were carried out simultaneously in Patna and Begusarai after the EOU alleged that Singh had accumulated assets worth Rs 3.43 crore beyond his known sources of income.
A 15-member EOU team reached Chandratara Bhawan on Akashvani Road in Khajpura, Patna, at about 8.30am on Thursday and began searches. The operation also covered Singh’s office and his ancestral residence in Begusarai.
According to officials, Singh was present at the Patna residence when the search began. Investigators searched various parts of the premises, including the basement and parking areas.
Case registered under Prevention of Corruption Act
The EOU said its investigation had identified assets worth Rs 3,43,78,300 that were allegedly disproportionate to Singh’s known sources of income. The amount is estimated to be 90.04% higher than his known income.
Following the findings, the EOU police station registered Case No. 19/26 on 19 August 2026.
The case has been registered under section 13(2) read with section 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.
Searches continue
The EOU said searches were continuing at all three locations.
Investigators are examining documents, property records and other material that could be relevant to the case. The agency said details of items or documents recovered during the searches would be released after the operation is completed.
The allegations against Singh remain subject to investigation.
