Saharsa: A two-hour traffic block will be imposed on the Koparia-Dhamara Ghat section of the Saharsa-Mansi railway route for six days to facilitate boulder unloading and crating work. The block will remain in effect from 7:45 am to 9:45 am on August 22, 23, 25, 26, 28 and 29.
The traffic block will affect the movement of three trains, which will be operated under regulation during the specified period. Railway authorities have advised passengers to plan their journeys accordingly.
Three Trains to Be Affected
The traffic block will affect the Saharsa-Samastipur MEMU, Samastipur-Saharsa Passenger and Purnia Court-Amritsar Jan Sewa Express.
Saharsa-Samastipur MEMU: Train No. 63343 will be regulated for approximately 50 minutes between Saharsa and Koparia.
Samastipur-Saharsa Passenger: Train No. 55566 will be regulated for around 50 minutes between Samastipur and Koparia.
Purnia Court-Amritsar Jan Sewa Express: The train will be regulated for approximately 30 minutes between Banmankhi and Amritsar.
Boulder Crating Work to Cover Around 800 Metres
The boulder crating work will be carried out over a stretch of approximately 800 metres from near Fungo Halt to Bridge No. 47.
Boulders will also be stockpiled at selected locations to strengthen vulnerable areas and protect the railway infrastructure from possible erosion by the Kosi River.
Focus on Protecting Railway Track from Kosi Erosion
The primary objective of the work is to protect the railway route from river erosion and prevent potential damage in the future.
The Kosi River is known for its shifting course and erosion-prone stretches. The protective work is therefore aimed at strengthening vulnerable sections of the railway infrastructure and improving its resilience during periods of heavy water flow.
120-Minute Block to Be Taken Daily
According to Samastipur Division Public Relations Officer R.K. Singh, a 120-minute traffic block will be imposed each day on the scheduled dates to facilitate the boulder unloading work on the Koparia-Dhamara Ghat section.
Railway authorities have stated that the work will be carried out while following necessary safety procedures to ensure the protection of railway infrastructure and smooth execution of the project.
Passengers Advised to Plan Journeys Accordingly
Passengers travelling on the affected routes may experience delays during the traffic block period. Railway authorities have advised passengers to check the latest train running status and revised timings before beginning their journey.
The completion of the boulder crating and unloading work is expected to strengthen the railway section and help reduce the risk of future damage caused by erosion along the Kosi River.
