Patna: Deputy Chief Minister and Road Construction Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Thursday reviewed the status of ongoing projects financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Bihar, emphasizing the need for timely completion. In a meeting with Jaagir Kumar, a representative from ADB, along with the Chief Engineer and Chief General Manager of Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited, Sinha directed that all schemes under the Bihar New Ganga Bridge Project be completed by June 2025.

During the meeting, Kumar informed Sinha about a new tender system aligned with international standards, which the Departmental engineers must be made aware of. Sinha instructed that ongoing projects, including those from Patna to Raghopur and Meharanar to Chaksinkadar, as well as the construction of a Railway Overbridge (ROB) near Chaksinkadar, should also be completed by the June 2025 deadline.

Sinha acknowledged challenges related to land acquisition, particularly affecting the road construction from Katihar to Balrampur under SH-98, which spans 43 kilometers. He pointed out that delays in project completion were largely due to land acquisition issues and projects located in forest areas. To address these challenges, he proposed establishing coordination with the Revenue and Land Reforms Department and the Forest and Environment Department.

Additionally, Sinha announced that a delegation from the Asian Development Bank would visit Bihar in November to discuss upcoming plans. He reiterated that ensuring smooth traffic flow in the state is a priority, and every effort will be made to achieve this goal.
