Patna: The Bihar Disaster Management Department has issued an Orange Alert for five districts — East Champaran, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Sheohar and Sitamarhi — warning of thunderstorms, lightning, moderate to heavy rainfall and strong winds.
The department has urged residents to exercise caution and follow safety measures during periods of severe weather.

Winds Up To 40 Km/H Expected
Strong winds with speeds of 30–40 km/h, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, are expected at several locations across north-central, north-eastern and south-central parts of Bihar.
The weather conditions could affect outdoor activities and create risks from falling branches, electric infrastructure and lightning strikes.
Residents have been advised not to take shelter under trees during rainfall and to avoid open fields, water bodies and elevated locations.
People should also maintain a safe distance from electric poles and power lines.
Temperatures Likely To Fall
The maximum temperature is expected to fall by 1–2 degrees Celsius at several places across the state over the next two to three days.
The minimum temperature, however, is likely to remain largely unchanged over the next five days.
Warning Of Waterlogging And Flash Floods
The Meteorological Department has also warned that heavy rainfall could cause waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Residents have been advised to avoid areas prone to water accumulation and possible flash flooding.
During thunderstorms and lightning, people should move indoors and take shelter in concrete buildings. The department has advised residents to stay away from trees, electric poles and other exposed structures.
