Bihar Court Imposes One-Year Imprisonment Sentence on Repeat Alcohol Offender

Aurangabad: The Excise Court in Aurangabad continues to enforce the amended prohibition law with stringent measures against offenders. On Friday, in Excise Case No. 752/23, Aurangabad Special Excise Judge Nitish Kumar convicted Santosh Mistry, a resident of Jagdishpur village in the Kutumba police station area, for consuming alcohol for the second time, sentencing him to one year of simple imprisonment.

The prosecution, represented by Legal Advisor of the Excise Department, Shekhar Kumar, presented evidence in court demonstrating Mistry’s violation of the prohibition law. Mistry was apprehended while intoxicated near the Aur check post in the Kutumba police station area on September 26, 2023. A breathalyzer test confirmed his alcohol consumption, leading to his arrest.

After reviewing the evidence and witness testimonies, Judge Nitish Kumar found Santosh Mistry guilty of repeat alcohol consumption.
