Patna: More than 17 lakh beneficiaries of Bihar’s social security pension schemes are yet to complete their life certification, prompting the state government to intensify its verification drive.
According to available figures, the life certification of 17,19,414 pension beneficiaries remains pending across Bihar. The deadline for completing the verification has been extended to September 30, 2026.
Beneficiaries who fail to complete the required verification within the deadline could face disruption in their pension payments.
Rs 1,100 Pension Credited Every Month
Under Bihar’s social security pension schemes, eligible beneficiaries receive Rs 1,100 per month directly into their bank accounts.
Life certification is required to verify that pension benefits continue to reach eligible and living beneficiaries. Those whose verification remains pending have therefore been urged to complete the process before the September 30 deadline.
Over One Lakh Verifications Pending in Muzaffarpur
A significant number of beneficiaries in Muzaffarpur district are also yet to complete their life certification.
According to the available data, verification for 1,03,144 beneficiaries is pending in the district. The highest number of pending cases has been reported from Musahari block, where 13,633 pensioners are yet to complete the process.
Muzaffarpur District Magistrate Kumar Gaurav has directed all Block Development Officers (BDOs) to accelerate the verification drive. Block-wise lists of beneficiaries with pending verification have been provided to officials, who have been instructed to organise camps and complete the process as quickly as possible.
Special Camps to Help Pensioners Complete Verification
The administration is preparing to conduct special camps at the block level to assist beneficiaries who have not yet completed their life certification.
Officials have been directed to ensure that eligible beneficiaries do not face unnecessary difficulties because their verification is pending. Authorities are also monitoring the progress of pending cases and have been asked to ensure timely completion.
Patna Has the Highest Number of Pending Cases
According to a report covering all 38 districts of Bihar, Patna has the highest number of pending life certifications, with around 1.37 lakh beneficiaries yet to complete the process.
Muzaffarpur ranks next, while Gaya also has around one lakh pending cases.
At the other end of the list, Sheikhpura has the lowest number of pending verifications, with around 3,600 beneficiaries yet to complete their life certification.
The administration has instructed BDOs to monitor the pending cases closely and submit regular reports on the progress of verification camps.
With the September 30, 2026 deadline approaching, beneficiaries whose life certification is still pending should complete the required verification at the earliest to avoid possible disruption in pension payments.
