Bodh Gaya: Around 400 students of the sixth batch of the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya participated in a special awareness session on the adverse effects of narcotics, prevention strategies and issues related to cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The session was organised as part of the institute’s IPM orientation programme and was attended by Bihar Police officials, including SP (ANTF) Rajesh Kumar, ASP Imran Parvez and DSP Ramesh Kumar Mishra.
The programme focused on sensitising students to the growing threat of narcotics, its wider social impact and the importance of individual and collective awareness in preventing substance abuse.
Police brief students on narcotics cases
SP (ANTF) Rajesh Kumar, an IPS officer, delivered the keynote address, drawing on his experience in narcotics-related matters to explain various aspects of NDPS cases.
His session covered areas including intelligence gathering, police operations and investigation procedures, while also highlighting the challenges involved in tackling narcotics-related offences.
Kumar has served in several field and headquarters-level positions, including SDPO Danapur, SDPO Secretariat, DSP SSG (CM Security), City SP Patna West, SP Prohibition, SP Naugachia and SP Cyber.
He has also received awards including the DG Award and the Sonepur Award during his career.
ASP Imran Parvez and DSP Ramesh Kumar Mishra also attended the session.
Students pledge to stay away from drugs
At the conclusion of the programme, the students took a pledge to abstain from substance abuse and contribute towards building a drug-free society.
The session provided the IPM students with an opportunity to understand the challenges associated with narcotics and the broader social consequences of substance abuse.
The organisers emphasised the role of informed and responsible citizens in preventing drug abuse and contributing to efforts aimed at creating a drug-free society.
