Patna: Bihar is likely to experience active monsoon conditions over the next three days, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in several districts.
On September 3, seven districts in eastern Bihar — Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnia and Katihar — have been placed under an orange alert. Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is possible in these areas.
Several other districts have been placed under a yellow alert, while some parts of the state are not under any weather warning.
September 3: Orange Alert In Seven Districts
The orange alert covers Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnia and Katihar.
The weather department has forecast heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and strong winds in these districts.
A yellow alert has also been issued for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, Jehanabad, Arwal, Khagaria, Munger, Jamui, Bhagalpur and Banka.
These areas may receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
No weather warning has been issued for Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Samastipur, Patna, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Begusarai and Nawada for September 3.
September 4: Yellow Alert Across Several Areas
Monsoon activity is expected to continue across much of Bihar on September 4.
A yellow alert has been issued for West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Gopalganj, Siwan, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnia, Katihar, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Munger, Banka and Jamui.
Thunderstorms and winds reaching 30 to 40kmph are possible in these districts.
No alert has been issued for Buxar, Bhojpur, Patna, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Arwal, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Nawada, Sheikhpura and Lakhisarai.
September 5: Rain Activity Likely In North And East Bihar
Monsoon activity is expected to remain concentrated over northern, eastern and parts of central-eastern Bihar on September 5.
A yellow alert has been issued for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnia, Katihar, Begusarai, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka and Jamui.
Thunderstorms and strong winds are possible in these districts, according to the forecast.
No weather warning has been issued for Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Buxar, Bhojpur, Patna, Arwal, Jehanabad, Gaya, Nawada, Nalanda, Sheikhpura and Lakhisarai.
The weather in these districts is expected to remain comparatively normal during the period.
