Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced several measures related to education on Teachers’ Day, including faster declaration of Matric and Intermediate examination results, a second examination opportunity for students who fail, a new university for teacher training and a proposed Banaras Hindu University (BHU) centre in the state.
Addressing a programme organised at the SK Memorial Auditorium in Patna, the Chief Minister said the government wants to make the examination and evaluation process faster and more efficient.
Matric And Intermediate Results Within A Week
Choudhary said the government plans to declare the results of the Matric and Intermediate examinations within one week.
He said the government is also considering a system under which examination results could be released centre-wise, with the aim of reducing the time taken between examinations and declaration of results.
The Chief Minister said his aim would be to bring the result declaration period down further, even to 48 hours, by improving the examination and evaluation system.
Failed Students To Get Another Chance Within 15 Days
The government also plans to provide students who fail an examination with an opportunity to appear again within 15 days, according to the Chief Minister.
The proposed system would allow students to take another examination without having to wait for an entire academic year.
The move is aimed at reducing the academic delay faced by students who do not clear an examination on their first attempt.
New University Planned For Teacher Training
Choudhary announced plans to establish a new university dedicated to teacher training.
The proposed institution is intended to strengthen teachers’ professional training and improve their capabilities. The government has linked better teacher training with efforts to improve the overall quality of education in the state.
BHU Centre To Be Established In Bihar
The Chief Minister also announced that a Banaras Hindu University (BHU) centre will be opened in Bihar.
The proposed centre is expected to expand access to higher education opportunities in the state and provide students with access to academic programmes associated with the institution.
Further details regarding the location and operational framework of the proposed centre were not provided in the announcement.
Vikramshila University Targeted Within One Year
Choudhary also spoke about the proposed Vikramshila University, saying that the institution would be brought into operation within one year.
He also said that issues concerning teachers and employees in universities would remain a priority for the government.
Teachers’ Salaries And Pending Dues
The Chief Minister said the government would work to ensure that teachers receive their salaries on time.
He also addressed pending payments to teachers working in madrasa and Sanskrit schools, saying that their outstanding dues would be cleared by September.
New Pay Scale For Unfunded Teachers
The government is also considering a new pay scale for teachers working in financially unaided institutions, according to Choudhary.
He said the proposed arrangement would use internal resources of universities along with government grants to support the new pay structure.
The announcements cover several areas of Bihar’s education system, from examination results and opportunities for students to teacher training, salaries and higher education infrastructure.
