Patna: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on September 5 announced that three large grounds near Patna’s Marine Drive will be ready by March 2027, with one designated as Ramlila Maidan for the annual Ramlila and Ravan Vadh events.
The announcement was made at Gandhi Maidan during the inauguration of Shri Krishna Mahotsav 4.0-2026: Kanha Ke Rang, Utsav Ke Sang, organised by the Dussehra Committee Trust, Patna, under the aegis of the Bihar Department of Art, Culture and Youth Affairs and the Satvika Group.
Dedicated Venue For Ramlila
Choudhary said the new Ramlila Maidan would be handed over to the Dussehra Committee Trust after March 2027.
He said Ramlila and Ravan Vadh events, which are currently held at Gandhi Maidan, would be shifted to the new venue with arrangements made specifically for the programmes.
The Dussehra Committee Trust has been organising Ramlila Mahotsav and Ravan Vadh at Gandhi Maidan since 1955 and had been seeking a separate venue. The chief minister said instructions had been issued to the Patna district magistrate in this regard.
CM Highlights Message Of Lord Krishna
Extending his wishes for the Shri Krishna Mahotsav, Choudhary said Lord Krishna’s teachings conveyed the importance of standing against injustice and upholding truth.
Referring to the Mahabharata, he said Krishna made efforts to prevent the conflict and sought only five villages from the Kauravas, but the war could not be avoided because of injustice.
The chief minister said the Bhagavad Gita emphasised duty and Dharma and that Krishna’s teachings continue to encourage people to follow the path of truth and justice.
Government Monitoring Flood Situation
Choudhary also spoke about the flood situation in Bihar, saying the Ganga’s water level was significantly higher than at the same time in previous years.
He said officials and ministers had been deployed in districts along the Ganga basin and that the government was monitoring the situation. He also pointed to rising water levels and flows from the Son and Gandak rivers.
The chief minister said Bihar also faces recurring challenges from water flowing from Nepal’s Terai region. He said work had begun on a comprehensive plan for managing the Kosi, Gandak and Ganga basins.
In coordination with the Central Water Commission, the government also plans to develop roads and water transport systems along the river basins, he said.
Dahi Handi Competition Held
The chief minister said the government was working towards making Bihar more prosperous and developed in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat.
He also congratulated the Dussehra Committee Trust for organising the Shri Krishna Mahotsav and Dahi Handi competition, saying such events help promote Bihar’s Sanatan and Indian cultural traditions among the public.
Members of the Dussehra Committee Trust felicitated Choudhary with an angavastra and a memento. The chief minister also visited the Dahi Handi competition venue and encouraged participants.
Health Minister Nishant, Labour Resources and Migrant Workers’ Welfare Minister Arun Shankar Prasad, MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia, Patna Mayor Sita Sahu, BISCOMAUN chairman Vishal Singh, Patna district magistrate Kundan Kumar and senior superintendent of police Kartikeya K Sharma were among those present, along with other officials, dignitaries, trust members and members of the public.
