Patna: The Railways has intensified preparations to commission a newly constructed rail bridge running parallel to the Rajendra Bridge in Mokama, with non-interlocking (NI) work scheduled to begin on September 21.
East Central Railway (ECR) General Manager Dimpy Garg inspected the bridge and reviewed preparations for the upcoming NI work on Saturday.
She held a detailed review with teams from the Danapur and Sonpur divisions and representatives of the agencies involved in the project. Garg issued instructions to officials on completing the preparatory work within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining safety and quality standards.
New bridge expected to strengthen rail capacity
The commissioning of the new rail bridge is expected to increase rail operational capacity in the Mokama region.
During the NI process, the new railway line, along with its signalling and operational systems, will be integrated into the existing railway network.
Garg emphasised coordination between different departments and strict adherence to safety procedures. During the inspection, she also examined railway tracks, bridges and other critical operational points.
Danapur Divisional Railway Manager Vinod Kumar briefed the General Manager on the new bridge and the preparations for its commissioning.

Station facilities reviewed
Garg also inspected Shahpur Patori, Barauni, Mansi and Kadhagola Road stations under the Sonpur division.
At Shahpur Patori, she reviewed passenger facilities including the platform, foot-overbridge, circulating area, panel room, station master’s office and restrooms.
She also reviewed redevelopment work being undertaken under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and directed officials to ensure high-quality and durable flooring.
Passenger amenities and safety arrangements were also inspected at Barauni, Mansi and Kadhagola Road stations, with officials instructed to address issues identified during the visit.
Sonpur Division DRM Amit Saran, along with officials from ECR headquarters and the two divisions, accompanied the General Manager during the inspections.
