Patna: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted an operation at an apartment complex in Patna’s Chitragupt Nagar police station area on Tuesday morning, resulting in the arrest of a youth described as a “most wanted” suspect in connection with terrorist activities and the detention of another man from whom around Rs 20 lakh in cash was allegedly recovered.
The operation took place at Kusum Infinity Apartment, near Zudio Mall on the main road.
Man detained with Rs 20 lakh
According to police sources, the NIA team had arrived at the complex to search a particular flat but entered another apartment by mistake.
The occupant of the apartment allegedly panicked upon seeing the NIA team and rushed downstairs. Bihar STF personnel and officers from Chitragupt Nagar police station were stationed outside the complex as part of the operation.
Police allegedly intercepted the man as he attempted to leave on a scooter.
A search of the scooter’s storage compartment reportedly led to the recovery of a bag containing approximately Rs 20 lakh in cash.
The detained man was identified from an identity card as Anmol Kumar Modi, a resident of Ward No. 7 in Chakiya, East Champaran.
According to police sources, Modi was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the source of the cash during questioning. The Income Tax Department has been informed about the recovery, and agencies are examining the source and intended use of the money.

NIA arrests ‘most wanted’ suspect
Meanwhile, the main NIA team conducted the intended raid at Flat No. 609 of Kusum Infinity Apartment.
According to sources, the agency arrested a youth described as a “most wanted” individual suspected of involvement in terrorist activities.
The accused has been taken into NIA custody for questioning as part of the investigation.
Agencies probe cash recovery
The recovery of the cash during the operation has added another dimension to the investigation.
Police and other agencies are now examining the circumstances surrounding the Rs 20 lakh found in the scooter, including its source and intended purpose.
The identities and roles of the individuals involved in the wider NIA investigation are expected to become clearer as questioning and further investigation continue.
