Patna: Bihar Road Construction Minister Kumar Shailendra on Wednesday reviewed the progress of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and approach roads being constructed under ongoing state road projects, directing officials to remove procedural and technical bottlenecks and accelerate work.
During a review meeting at the Road Construction Department office on September 9, the minister examined the physical and financial progress of ROB projects in Patna, Sitamarhi, Saran, West Champaran, East Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Aurangabad and Gaya.
The review covered ROB alignments, coordination with the Railways, GAD and design approvals, utility shifting, land-related matters, approach roads and connectivity.
55 ROBs under corporation review
Officials informed the meeting that 55 ROBs are currently being executed by the corporation, of which eight have already been completed. Construction on the remaining projects is progressing, the department said.
The meeting also reviewed 18 ROB/RUB projects currently under construction by the National Highways wing of NHAI.
Shailendra directed officials to ensure that all projects are completed within stipulated timelines while maintaining construction quality.
Land and railway issues to be cleared
The minister instructed officials to address pending issues, including land acquisition, encroachment, Forest Department clearances and coordination with the Railways, without delay.
Officials were directed to maintain regular coordination with district administrations and railway authorities to resolve obstacles affecting construction.
The minister also called for action under applicable rules against agencies found responsible for negligence or unnecessary delays.
Regular site inspections ordered
At the conclusion of the meeting, Shailendra directed officials to conduct regular site inspections and submit progress reports to departmental headquarters.
He said timely completion of ROBs was important for improving public convenience and ensuring smoother traffic movement.
The minister emphasised that developing infrastructure and providing safe and seamless transportation to the public remained a key priority of the government.
Senior officials and engineers from the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited, Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited and the National Highways wing attended the review meeting.
