East Central Railway has announced eight special trains for Bihar ahead of Diwali and Chhath, providing additional travel options as the festival season approaches. The services will connect Bihar with several major cities and are scheduled to operate between September and November.
The Chandigarh–Patna special train (04511/04512) will operate every Thursday and Friday from October 1 to November 27. The Firozpur Cantt–Patna special train (04615/04616) will run every Tuesday and Wednesday from October 6 to November 25. The Anand Vihar–Jogbani special train (04007/04008) is scheduled to operate every Saturday and Sunday from October 10 to November 18.
The Anand Vihar–Muzaffarpur special train (04027/04028) will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from October 13 to November 25. The Delhi–Sitamarhi special train (04009/04010) will run every Thursday and Saturday from October 15 to November 21.
The Anand Vihar–Laukaha Bazar special train (04009/04010) is scheduled to operate daily from September 16 to November 30. The Muzaffarpur–Yog Nagari Rishikesh special train (04313/04314) will run every Sunday and Monday from October 4 to November 30. The Anand Vihar–Patliputra special train (04095/04095) will also operate daily from October 1 to November 30.
Regular Trains Face Festival Rush
The additional services come ahead of the annual Diwali and Chhath travel rush, when large numbers of people living and working in other states return to Bihar to celebrate the festivals with their families.
Regular trains on several routes are already witnessing high demand, with tickets filling quickly and waiting lists increasing for popular services. The introduction of the eight special trains is expected to provide passengers with additional options and help ease pressure on regular services during the peak travel period.
Direct Bus Service Between Bihar And Haryana
Preparations are also being made to increase road transport options during the festival season. The Bihar Transport Department is planning a direct bus service between Bihar and Haryana, which could benefit passengers travelling from Haryana and the wider Delhi-NCR region to Bihar.
The state government is also planning additional bus services connecting Bihar with other states. The measures are aimed at providing more travel options as passenger demand rises ahead of Diwali and Chhath.
