Patna: Monsoon activity has intensified across Bihar, bringing increased rainfall, thunderstorms and humid conditions in several parts of the state. The Meteorological Centre, Patna, has forecast light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in 24 districts over the next 24 hours.
The weather department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Kaimur (Bhabua), Kishanganj and West Champaran, where heavy rain is likely along with thunderstorms.
Weather conditions are expected to remain variable over the next three days, with fluctuations in temperatures. Wind speeds of 30–40 kmph are likely in 24 districts, according to the forecast.
Rainfall was recorded in several parts of Bihar during the past 24 hours. Areraj in East Champaran recorded the highest rainfall of 46.2 mm. Maximum temperatures fell in 17 districts, including Patna.
Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 33.6°C, while Kaimur recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 37.6°C.
On Tuesday, light and scattered rainfall was reported in Patna, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Darbhanga, Sheikhpura, Madhepura and Agwanpur in Saharsa district. Patna received 0.3 mm of rainfall.
According to the Meteorological Centre, a cyclonic circulation over central Assam and adjoining areas, extending towards northeast Assam and neighbouring regions, is influencing weather conditions. Under its influence, thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall are expected to continue in different parts of Bihar.
