Patna: The Bihar Education Department has revised the schedule for the third phase of government teacher transfers after delays in the first and second phases caused by floods and natural disasters.
The revised school-wise vacancy list, which was scheduled to be published on September 16, will now be released in October. Online applications for general transfers will also begin after the revised vacancies are published.
The Directorate of Secondary Education issued a notification on Wednesday announcing the revised schedule.
Revised Vacancy List On October 1
Under the new schedule, vacancies for general transfers will be published on October 1, 2026, after adjustments for surplus teachers and mutual transfers.
The list will provide school-wise details of vacant teacher positions, allowing teachers to select schools based on their preferences.
Applications From October 4
The teacher transfer portal will open on October 4, when the application process for general transfers will begin.
Teachers will be able to submit their applications and select schools in their preferred order until October 10.
The earlier schedule had fixed September 17 to 23 for the online application process.
Transfer Process To Continue Until November 16
After applications for voluntary transfers are received, the Education Department will scrutinise them. The general transfer lists will subsequently be prepared by the district, divisional and state establishment committees.
Teachers will then be given an opportunity to file appeals, followed by the disposal of those appeals.
The process will begin on October 12 and is scheduled to conclude on November 16.
The department said the revised schedule was necessitated by delays in the first and second phases, with floods and natural disasters cited as the primary reasons.
