Patna: Bank customers in Bihar and across the country will get an additional opportunity to complete essential banking work before the proposed three-day bank strike from September 28 to 30, 2026.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed banks to keep their branches operational on Sunday, September 27, despite it being a weekly holiday.
The special arrangement is intended to allow customers to complete important banking transactions before the proposed strike.
Bank Branches to Remain Open on September 27
According to the RBI’s direction, bank branches across the country will operate on September 27.
The instruction is particularly relevant for customers who need to visit branches for services such as cash deposits, withdrawals, cheque-related work and other essential banking transactions.
The additional working day is expected to provide some relief to customers who may otherwise face disruption during the proposed strike period.
RBI Directs ATM-Linked Branches and Currency Chests to Operate
The RBI has also directed banks to keep ATM-linked branches and currency chests operational on Sunday.
The direction was communicated to the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) and major banks through a letter issued by RBI Chief General Manager Shivaji Radhakrishnan.
Banks have also been asked to comply with applicable legal and operational requirements while implementing the special Sunday arrangement.

The proposed three-day bank strike is scheduled from September 28 to September 30.
If banking employees participate in the strike, branch-level services could be affected during these three days. Customers who have urgent banking requirements may therefore use the additional working day on September 27.
