Patna: Patna Traffic Police issued 57,518 challans and collected Rs 8.72 crore in traffic fines in 25 days, according to Traffic SP Sagar Kumar Jha. The amount is roughly equal to the fines collected during August, with five days still remaining in September.
The traffic police said a special enforcement campaign will continue for the next three days against motorists violating traffic rules. Officials said the campaign aims to improve compliance with traffic regulations and promote road safety.
Helmet Violations Top Traffic Offences
According to Sagar Kumar Jha, riding without a helmet is the most common violation among the cases recorded by traffic police.
A significant number of challans have also been issued for not wearing seat belts and using mobile phones while driving. Traffic personnel are continuing checks and taking action against motorists found violating the rules.
Senior Officers Inspect Traffic Posts
The traffic department is also monitoring the functioning of its personnel at various traffic posts.
The Traffic SP said senior officers regularly inspect traffic posts and check the duties of personnel deployed there. Departmental action is being taken against employees found absent from duty or negligent in their responsibilities, he said.
