Patna: Patna is set to host the three-day Raja Karna Bihar State Archery Championship ‘Lakshya’ 2026, bringing together 330 archers from different districts of Bihar.
The state-level competition is being organised at the Patliputra Sports Complex by the Bihar State Sports Department and the Bihar State Sports Authority. The event aims to identify emerging archery talent and provide young players with opportunities to develop their skills.
330 Archers To Compete
A total of 330 archers are participating in the championship, including 180 boys and 150 girls.
The competition will feature participants from different districts of Bihar, who will compete to demonstrate their accuracy and archery skills.
Multiple Age Categories
According to Bihar State Sports Authority Director General Ravindran Shankaran, competitions will be held across several age groups.
These include the Under-10, Under-13, Under-15, Sub-Junior and Junior categories, allowing young archers at different stages of development to compete at the state level.
Focus On Identifying New Talent
Shankaran said the state-level competitions are intended to help identify sporting talent from different parts of Bihar.
He said the objective is not limited to conducting competitions but also includes identifying promising athletes and providing them with appropriate training and guidance.
The initiative is aimed at creating a pathway for emerging archers to develop their skills and prepare for higher-level competitions.
Preparing Players For International Events
The Bihar State Sports Authority also plans to use such competitions to prepare talented players for national and international sporting events.
The championship provides young archers with competitive exposure while allowing officials and coaches to assess emerging talent from across the state.
