Patna: Police presence will be increased around schools, colleges, parks and other public places in Patna as part of measures to strengthen the safety of women and female students.
Instructions have also been issued to increase patrolling by Police Didi units in these areas. The directions were issued during a review meeting chaired by IG Jitendra Rana on Monday.
Review Of Policing And Law And Order
Rana reviewed policing arrangements with SSP Kartikeya Sharma, the City SP and the Rural SP. The meeting covered investigation management, law and order, police patrolling, pending attachment orders and warrants, and cybercrime cases.
The IG directed officials to accelerate the arrest of wanted accused and maximise arrests, particularly in larger police stations. Officials were also asked to speed up action on pending cases.
Checks To Curb Narcotics Smuggling
Police officials were instructed to conduct regular checks at the state’s entry points to prevent the movement of narcotics.
The directions included monitoring suspicious activities and strengthening screening measures to intercept the transportation of illicit drugs.
Patrolling In Diara And Waterlogged Areas
The meeting also focused on policing in Diara, or riverine areas, and waterlogged locations. Officials were directed to increase regular river patrolling and surveillance to prevent criminal activities in these areas.
Pending Cases To Be Cleared Within 30 Days
Rana directed officials to ensure that pending cases are disposed of within 30 days. He warned that negligence in case disposal would invite action against responsible officers.
The directive applies to officials including SHOs, Circle Inspectors and Sub-Divisional Police Officers. The IG said negligence in handling pending cases would not be tolerated.
Focus On Attacks On Police And Cybercrime
Police officials were also instructed to prioritise cases involving attacks on police teams and expedite the arrest of accused in communal cases.
The meeting further emphasised faster action in cybercrime cases, with officials directed to improve the pace of investigation and disposal.
