Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) recorded its highest single-day property tax collection of the current financial year, collecting more than Rs 1.11 crore during an ongoing citywide assessment and recovery campaign.
During the same drive, around 300 properties were assessed, while several property owners also opted for self-reassessment. The campaign is being conducted across all six municipal circles of Patna.
Pataliputra Circle Records Highest Collection
The six municipal circles together contributed more than Rs 1.11 crore in property tax collection on the day.
Among them, Pataliputra circle recorded the highest collection at Rs 25.02 lakh.
PMC teams are carrying out door-to-door visits under the supervision of Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena. The campaign covers property surveys, tax assessment, recovery of outstanding dues and awareness among property owners about timely tax payments.
Nearly 300 Properties Assessed
As part of the campaign, tax assessments were carried out across the six municipal circles.
Azimabad recorded 50 property assessments, followed by Kankarbagh with 49, Nutan Rajdhani with 45, Pataliputra with 43, Bankipur with 24 and Patna City with 18.
In addition, 51 property owners completed self-reassessment of their property tax.
Field inspections also found discrepancies in the previously assessed tax of 13 properties. PMC reassessed these properties and imposed penalties as applicable.
PMC Appeals For Tax Payment By September 30
The civic body has asked property owners to deposit their outstanding property tax by September 30 to avoid penalties.
After the deadline, unpaid property tax will attract a penalty of 1.5% per month under the applicable rules.
Property owners can pay their taxes through the PMC’s online property tax portal or at their nearest municipal tax counter.
Door-To-Door Campaign Continues
PMC teams are continuing field-level assessments in different parts of Patna. The campaign is intended to improve property identification, ensure accurate tax assessment and increase recovery of outstanding dues.
The civic body is also encouraging property owners to keep their tax records updated and complete self-assessment or reassessment wherever required.
