MP Pappu Yadav Receives Fresh Death Threats from Alleged Lawrence Gang Member

MP Pappu Yadav Receives Death Threat, Security Tightened

Patna: Independent MP from Purnia, Pappu Yadav, has reportedly received fresh death threats, allegedly from a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. According to Yadav’s personal assistant, Mohd. Sadiq Alam, threatening messages were received on WhatsApp at Yadav’s Delhi office. The message warned that Yadav, who had spoken against the gang, was now targeted for assassination.

The threats, delivered through WhatsApp messages and calls, were sent twice—first at around 2 a.m. on Wednesday night and again at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning. Sadiq has lodged a formal complaint with the Connaught Place police station in Delhi. In the complaint, he stated that he received the threats from a number displaying the name “Kodi Bhai,” accompanied by an image associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Screenshots of the WhatsApp chats have been shared on social media, where they quickly gained attention. The messages purportedly identify the caller as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and claim to have been contracted to kill the MP.

This incident marks the latest in a series of threats against Yadav, who has reportedly been targeted multiple times since mid-October. A previous threat, also allegedly linked to the Bishnoi gang, led to an arrest in Delhi last Saturday. However, police later stated that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had no involvement in that incident and that the threat was not issued from Dubai, as initially suspected.

Yadav himself expressed concern over the repeated nature of these threats, which he says have continued unabated since October 14. The Delhi police are currently investigating the matter.
