Patna: Satish Kumar, Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, arrived at East Central Railway (ECR) on Tuesday for a two-day visit, focusing on reviewing passenger facilities and security measures in the wake of the busy Chhath Puja season. Kumar inspected crowd management protocols and directed officials to ensure that all necessary amenities are provided to passengers at trains and stations.
During his visit, the Railway Board chairman conducted a window trailing inspection of the Digha Bridge Halt-Samastipur section, assessing the condition of the railway infrastructure. He made a stop at Sonpur station, where he reviewed key facilities including cleanliness, passenger services, and the overall upkeep of the platform, foot overbridge (FOB), and circulating area. The inspection also covered the progress of redevelopment works under the Amrit Station Yojana, a scheme aimed at modernising railway stations across India, with Kumar offering further guidance on ongoing projects.
Accompanying Kumar were senior officials, including East Central Railway General Manager Chhatrasal Singh and Divisional Railway Manager of Sonpur Division Vivek Bhushan Sood, alongside other headquarters and Sonpur Division officers. The visit underscored the Railway Board’s commitment to enhancing the travel experience for passengers, particularly during periods of high demand.
