Gaya: A total of 1,662 students received degrees at the fifth convocation of the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) in Gaya, while 61 students were awarded 95 gold medals for their academic achievements.

Bihar Governor Lieutenant General (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar and Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi were also present.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor praised the university campus for its cleanliness, citing it as an example for other institutions and public spaces across Bihar and the country.

Governor Praises Campus Cleanliness

Hasnain said he had not spotted even a single piece of plastic waste across the campus after arriving by helicopter.

He described the standard of cleanliness as exemplary and urged that similar practices be adopted elsewhere.

Hard Work, Not Early Recognition, Leads To Success

Sharing his personal experiences, the Governor told students that he had not received any medals during his school and college years but went on to earn numerous medals during his service in the Army.

Through the anecdote, he encouraged graduates to remain committed to their goals, emphasising that hard work, dedication and sustained effort can lead to significant achievements in life.

Graduates Urged To Take Social Responsibility

The Governor also urged students to fulfil their social responsibilities alongside pursuing academic and professional success.

He highlighted the need to raise public awareness about serious illnesses, including tuberculosis (TB) and cancer, and encouraged graduates to contribute to such awareness efforts.

The convocation celebrated the students’ academic accomplishments while emphasising the importance of cleanliness, perseverance and social engagement.
