Patna : Candidates protesting the cancellation of the Bihar Police Sub-Inspector recruitment main examination staged a demonstration in Patna on Thursday and prepared to march towards the Chief Minister’s residence, prompting heightened security and police deployment along major roads.
The recruitment drive covers 1,799 Sub-Inspector posts. The protest began near Gate No. 10 of Gandhi Maidan, from where candidates marched towards JP Golambar, raising slogans against the cancellation of the main examination.
Police personnel attempted to stop the demonstrators by putting up barricades at JP Golambar. However, the protesters broke through the barricades and moved towards Dak Bungalow Crossing. As the situation escalated, police resorted to mild force, according to the report.
The demonstration affected traffic on several major roads in Patna, causing inconvenience to commuters and pedestrians. Police and administrative teams remained deployed in the area to monitor the situation.
Candidates Say They Have Been Protesting For A Month
The protesting candidates said they had been holding a peaceful demonstration at the Gardanibagh protest site for around a month to press for their demands.
They alleged that despite their prolonged agitation, no government or administrative official had addressed their concerns. The candidates said the lack of a response had compelled them to take their protest onto the streets.

Aspirants Demand Reversal Of Main Exam Cancellation
The candidates’ principal demand is the withdrawal of the decision to cancel the Sub-Inspector recruitment main examination conducted for 1,799 posts.
They have also demanded that the authorities announce the date for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), a subsequent stage of the recruitment process.
In addition, the protesters called for an early announcement of the Physical Efficiency Test date for the prohibition constable recruitment examination.
Protesters Warn Of Continued Agitation
The candidates said they would continue their agitation until their demands were considered and they received concrete assurances from the authorities.
Police and administrative officials continued to monitor the situation during the demonstration. The march towards the Chief Minister’s residence and the movement of protesters through key routes prompted increased security arrangements in several parts of the state capital.
