Patna: Mahavir Mandir in Patna will be decorated with red roses to mark Hanuman Jayanti, with a special offering of a 51-kg Naivedyam laddu planned for Lord Hanuman. The temple authorities have also made additional security arrangements in view of the expected gathering of devotees.
The laddu will be offered to the deity and subsequently distributed among devotees as prasad. Additional government and private security personnel will be deployed to manage the crowd and ensure the smooth conduct of religious activities.
Nine-Day Ramcharitmanas Recitation Begins
The religious celebrations have already begun with the commencement of the nine-day Navah Path of the Shri Ramcharitmanas on Friday morning.
The ceremony started with Kalash Sthapana, or the installation of a sacred pot. An 11-member group from Mithila will recite the Ramcharitmanas over nine days at the permanent mandap on the upper floor of the temple.
The recitation will conclude on Hanuman Jayanti. This year, Kishore Kunal, secretary of the Shri Mahavir Sthan Nyas Samiti, is serving as the yajman, while Acharya Pandit Jatesh Jha is performing the rituals as the purohit.
Mahavir Mandir Follows Ramanandacharya Tradition
Unlike several other parts of the country, where Hanuman Jayanti is observed on Chaitra Purnima, Mahavir Mandir follows the tradition established by Jagadguru Ramanandacharya.
According to this tradition, the festival is observed on Kartika Krishna Chaturdashi, the fourteenth day of the waning lunar phase in the Hindu month of Kartika.
Different religious traditions and scriptures mention varying dates for the birth of Lord Hanuman. The Agastya Samhita and Vayu Purana refer to Kartika Krishna Chaturdashi as his birth date.
The same date is also mentioned in Shri Vaishnavamatabjabhaskar, a text authored by Ramanandacharya, which forms the basis for the observance followed at Mahavir Mandir.
