Patna: Bihar’s Prithvi Raj delivered a scintillating century, while Deepesh Gupta remained unbeaten with a resolute half-century, guiding Bihar to 255 for 3 at the close of Day 1 against Rajasthan in the Cooch Behar Trophy at Moin-ul-Haque Stadium. Rajasthan won the toss and opted to field first.

Bihar’s innings began steadily, with captain Mohammad Alam and Agastya building a 43-run opening stand. Alam was the first to fall, scoring 28 off 63 balls, followed by Agastya, who managed 15 off 48 deliveries. The standout performance of the day came from Prithvi Raj and Deepesh Gupta, who stitched together a formidable 202-run partnership for the third wicket.

Prithvi Raj reached his century in style, hitting a boundary, and concluded his impressive knock with 128 off 136 balls, featuring 19 fours and one six. This marked his third century in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy season. Deepesh Gupta, displaying remarkable composure, remained unbeaten on 75 off 209 balls, including 12 fours.

Rajasthan’s bowlers struggled to make an impact on the first day. Gulab Singh managed one wicket, conceding 39 runs in 11 overs, while Jatin claimed two wickets for 78 runs. At stumps, Deepesh Gupta was accompanied by nightwatchman Satyam Kumar, who remained not out on 9.
