Patna: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh met prominent Patna-based educator Faizal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, on Tuesday, intensifying speculation about potential political alignments ahead of the Bihar assembly elections.
The meeting followed AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s announcement that the party will contest all 243 assembly constituencies in Bihar independently. During his visit to Khan Sir’s coaching centre, Singh and the educator reportedly discussed the current state of Bihar’s education system.
Khan Sir, originally from Deoria in Uttar Pradesh, has earned a widespread following for his unique teaching style and has frequently been in the spotlight for his involvement in social and educational issues. Most recently, he played a vocal role during the student protests over alleged irregularities in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination, standing in solidarity with students at Gardanibagh.
Although Khan Sir has previously dismissed speculation about joining politics, his meeting with AAP MP Sanjay Singh just months before the elections has renewed public curiosity about a possible candidacy. Neither AAP nor Khan Sir has made an official statement confirming any political plans.
Adding further weight to the speculation is AAP’s recent strategy of fielding high-profile educators in elections. Earlier this year, the party gave a ticket to coaching teacher Awadh Ojha from the Patparganj constituency in Delhi. Ojha lost the election to BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi by 1,75,000 votes.
Khan Sir has also drawn attention in recent weeks for personal milestones. He married AS Khan from Siwan in May and held a reception in Patna on June 6. The event was attended by several political figures, including Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, Education Minister Sunil Kumar, and Industry Minister Nitish Mishra.
AAP has launched an aggressive campaign in Bihar, criticising the central government over issues affecting Bihari residents in Delhi, such as slum demolitions. AAP MP Sanjay Singh participated in a protest at Gardanibagh earlier in the day before meeting Khan Sir.
As election preparations intensify, the potential political involvement of popular public figures like Khan Sir—alongside AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s outreach—could significantly influence the campaign landscape in the state.
