Accidental Firing at Patna Registry Office Injures Two

Two people were injured after a guard’s gun accidentally fired at the busy Patna registry office on Friday

Patna: There was chaos at the Chhajju Bagh registry office in Patna on Friday morning after a gunshot injured two people. The incident happened when a guard’s double-barrelled gun went off by mistake while he was on duty.

Police said that both injured people were quickly taken to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for treatment. Their condition is currently stable. After the firing, people at the registry office, also known as the district registration office, panicked and ran for safety.

Patna Central SP Diksha visited the spot and said that the firing was accidental. The Gandhi Maidan police station team is investigating how the gun went off inside such an important public office. Officials are checking the security arrangements to ensure this does not happen again.

The Chhajju Bagh registry office handles property registrations, marriage registrations, and other legal document registrations in Patna. This office keeps records dating back to 1795 and is an essential government service centre for the people of Bihar’s capital.
