Patna: Mango lovers in Patna have a reason to smile as the city gears up for its annual Mango Festival starting June 28. The two-day event will be held at Gyan Bhawan and promises a celebration of the king of fruits with competitions, exhibitions, and stalls showcasing dozens of mango varieties.
Organised by the Horticulture Directorate of the Agriculture Department, the Mango Festival 2025 will highlight the theme of renovating old orchards as a gift to future generations. The festival will also hold discussions on advanced mango cultivation using the latest technology to benefit farmers and orchard owners in Bihar.
One of the main attractions this year is the ‘Eat mangoes and get rewards’ competition for children aged between 5 and 10 years. In this event, each child will be given two ripe mangoes, and those who finish eating both in the shortest time will receive a cash prize and a certificate. Organisers said registrations for the competition have already been done online.
Apart from this, there will be a painting competition for children and stalls where visitors can buy different types of mangoes directly from growers. Officials said entry and registration for the festival are completely free, encouraging families across Patna to come and celebrate Bihar’s rich mango heritage.
