Accused Surrender in Patna’s Boring Road Firing Case; Police Seek Remand for Engineering and Hotel Management Students

Patna: Two key suspects in the recent firing incident on Boring Canal Road in Patna surrendered to police on Friday. Shibu Kumar of Kankarbagh and Rohit alias Alter of Mahendu, both students from affluent backgrounds, have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days, with police planning to seek their remand for further interrogation.

Shibu, whose father is an engineer, is currently studying engineering at a college in Rajasthan. Rohit, son of a doctor, is pursuing hotel management at a university in Punjab.

Police confirmed that Shibu is the individual seen firing from outside the Scorpio in the widely circulated viral video of the incident, while Rohit alias Alter was firing from inside the vehicle.

Police Pressure Leads to Surrender

City SP Central Sweety Shehrawat stated that police had been pursuing an advertisement warrant against Rohit and Shibu, and their surrender was a direct result of this pressure. “The police was taking action against Rohit and Shibu for the advertisement warrant. Both have surrendered due to pressure. Some miscreants are absconding. Everyone will be arrested,” Shehrawat affirmed.

Authorities have also identified four other individuals involved, including Shanu, and are conducting raids to apprehend them.

Ongoing Investigation and Previous Arrests

In connection with the case, police previously arrested Ashish and sent him to jail, while a minor involved was sent to a reformatory home. Investigations reveal that Shibu had an initial dispute on Boring Road around 3:30 PM, after which the group returned at 5:00 PM to carry out the firing before fleeing the scene. The swift actions by the Patna police highlight their commitment to bringing all culprits to justice in this high-profile case.
