Patna: The land acquisition process for Adani Power Limited’s proposed 2,400 MW thermal power project in Bihar has gathered pace, with an official team conducting field inspections across several villages to assess land classification and applicable rates.
The project comprises three units of 800 MW each. As part of the preparations, officials inspected land proposed to be acquired for the construction of a railway corridor-cum-road linked to the project.
During Thursday’s inspection, the team assessed the ground conditions and verified the actual classification of the land. Officials also examined the rates applicable to different categories of land and collected relevant information required for the acquisition process.
The inspection team included the Additional Collector, Deputy Development Commissioner, District Land Acquisition Officer, Chief Project Engineer (Project and Construction) of Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited and the Sub-Registrar of Kahalgaon.
The officials visited the Sikandarpur, Imam Nagar, Basantpur, Chaudhary Basantpur, Kakraghat, Harinkol and Maheshram villages to assess the land.
Officials said that once the verification of land classification and applicable rates is completed, further action on land acquisition for the project is expected to gain momentum.
Inspection of Proposed Railway Overbridges
The team also inspected three proposed railway overbridges (ROBs) under the Godda-Pirpainti new broad-gauge railway line project.
The sites inspected included:
- ROB No. 163 at Piyalapur
- ROB No. 165 at Rifatpur
- ROB No. 169 at Prasanna
The inspections were conducted to determine the classification of land required for the proposed infrastructure.
The Land Reforms Deputy Collector, Kahalgaon, along with representatives of the requisitioning department, was also present during the inspection.
Officials assessed the ground situation and gathered information on various aspects related to land acquisition and the proposed construction work. Once the status and classification of the required land are established, the administration is expected to proceed with the next stages of the acquisition process.
